My Newest Art: will be traditional oils and drawings only.

FAQ:
* I use Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colours.  I highly recommend these as there is no turpentine.  Use water and mediums to thin, water to rinse off brush.  No toxic stink, no mess.
* For sketches I use graphite and charcoals.
* Supports of choice are canvas and various papers.
* I am planning to use clear gesso + acrylic to create toned grounds, and to paint on gessoed masonite when I can afford it.
* My technique for oil paintings: sketch a study in sketchpad, redraw on canvas in graphite or charcoal, dab with eraser to fade lines, spray with fixative, let dry, paint over with oils.  Tada!
* All prior artwork posted before this date is to be considered older works, and will be archived in scraps soon, after I photograph and post my oil paintings and drawings.
* Yes I have gone mad and it feels like freedom.  Traditional art is where happiness dwells!  I have never felt as satisfied artistically till now.
* You may see Catholic references in my art, yet you will also see Goddess/Pagan references.  I am not Catholic, but was raised in a Catholic household, so you will see the influences of this.  The images of Our Lady of Guadalupe Morena are to me another Aspect of the Goddess.  I just want to be clear on that, as it comes up for debate and speculation every now and again.  If you were to ask me what religion I am, I would tell you, I am a Surrealist.

Blessings,
Victoria

My Older Art:
Hybrid Sketch (traditional sketch & digital manipulation/coloring)
Abstract Expressionism
Expressionism
Photomanipulation
Digitally Rendered Characters (Poser)
Sky Photography
Cat Photography
Poetry

Old FAQ/Notes
* I no longer use Poser to create characters, as I can sketch now, although I have some Poser stock I may utilize in the future.
* I no longer use stock from others' stock galleries, as it is easier to sketch and also I can print whatever I want as it is all mine.  I also now take my own stock photographs.
* My primary artistic focus is on Symbolism, Abstract Expressionism, Expressionism, Figurative Art, and Surrealism.
* My primary mediums currently are: Hybrid (traditional+digital), Digital (Photoshop7), Traditional Paintings (acrylic+prismacolor pencils+conté crayon), and Sketch (graphite+charcoal).
* My supports of choice are: watercolor paper, cream sketchpaper, blank notecards, canvas.
* The longer a piece sits in my gallery, the more I look at it and want to alter concieved errors. So you may see edited versions reappear in your watch list.  I know it is annoying, but I have no way to disable that.  My apologies.
* I am not a serious Photographer. The cat and sky photographs are for my pleasure.  They are taken with a digital camera and inevitably altered in some way through PS7.  I just adore the sky in wonderment, and seek to capture its more grandiose moments, and to share them.  I am fortunate to live on a mountain in the Texas country, so get to see alot of storms and have lots of sky.  The felines are my family, and I seek to capture the spirit of joy and delight they give me.  They are somewhat artistic photographs, but if you want to see a REAL cat photographer, go here: wazabees. He has a natural talent for capturing the elusive feline.

Yes, I'm on a color binge. I shall soon vomit copious amounts of color onto a barren field and fungi will sprout from the pool as it decays in the moonlight. Whoever eats the fruit of the fungi shall grow wings and fly straight into a painting to live happily forever.

...

For many nights have I dreamnt of the past. Melancholy and regret have consumed me.  I have taken it upon myself to carve the future out of graphite. The road is paved with blood and paint, tears and fallen leaves. You may walk along the path I lay and wonder at it, if you so desire. Just give me room to Work, as I painstakingly lay the cobblestones one by one into the rich loam of the earth.  For this day have I made my vows to the Muse, and from this quiet day on, I shall speak more with the swift skritch skratch whoosh of graphite on paper than with the choked and aching voice of a recluse.

...

I had a profound dream, wherein I was riding my bicycle in Mexico.  Being an artist, I had my sketchbook with me.  From one graveyard in the desert to another, I rode, sitting among the graves and drawing.  I touched the tombstones, caressed the names engraved on them.  The light on the desert shone upon the cracked white stone of the graves, the statuary and the mausoleums.  So connected and one with the dead, I felt, moreso than I have ever felt among the living. The decay beneath my toes was like rotting flowers left by the bereaved, sweet and pungent in the sun.  My lungs were filled with it, my heart swam in the thick of it.

...

I reconstructed my Prayer, to make it wholly my own and not half of anOther's.

La Santisima Muerte y Our Lady of Guadalupe Morena, my sisters, dew of the sea, seven flowers of the seven serpents, she who walks towards and away at once, and wears a mask on her face and on the back of her head, our devouring mother who's womb is also the grave, she who pestled the bone and blood of slain gods to give life to us, she who weeps blood for us...Queens of the seas and of the stars! Mothers of the Night! To show my devotion to you, I consecrate my eyes, that they may see your Works, my ears, that they may hear your voices in the aether, my mouth, that I may speak of what wisdom you have given unto me, and my heart, that it may shine with the light of your glory. O loving Mothers, as I am your daughter, keep me close, defend me against my enemies, teach me the mysteries of life and death, and grant me peace in my home, in your embrace.

The Faces of New Orleans, citizens of America

Mute the commercial, then listen to and watch the video.

I lived in New Orleans, and had always planned to return.  I am heartbroken.  I am angry.  These people are US.  And we are them.
